It was a hot still night, and a slow start to the morning, but it didn’t matter cause we were in no rush to go anywhere.  We were tossing up whether or not to visit the cenote 2km down the road towards the town of Dzitnup.

Oh man, it’s only 2km, so we packed up and went. Can you REALLY get too much of Cenotes?

Cenote XKeKen, it was a stunning underground cenote with some beautiful stalactites and ‘waterfall’ formation. .

A small opening in the top where some natural light shone through and the rest of the cavern had nice appropriate artificial lighting. Roots falling to the water top, birds, bats and lots of fish. The water was clear with a lovely green/blue (turqoise as Ken reckons) colour.  The water temp was just lovely and cool.
This was our favourite cenote so far.

There were only a small group of people here which was nice, yapped with a couple of backpackers and once they left we enjoyed the cenote to ourselves for a good amount of time before others arrived. We had several dips in between sitting back and reading.

Aaahhhhh so refreshing and we enjoyed every second of it………not thinking about the sweaty hot weather we will got out to!

Question – What are we doing here???

A – Commenting on the size of his manhood?

B – Using the accepted Mexican gesture asking the server for’ A moment of his time’?

C – Trying to teach ‘Ole Mate’ how to take a photo with our camera, by holding down the button for 2 seconds?

Answer – C

And he got it in the end!

The restaurant here actually had a really good priced buffet lunch…….so we indulged, even dressed up for the occasion (yeah changed our shirt!!). The food was awesome and we even got to taste a local dish ‘Sopa de Lima’.  This is a rather large area with the restaurant and two cenotes that can be visited, but with very few tourists compared to the Ik Kil near Chichen Itza. (Maybe if they fixed the shitty road maybe they’d get more tourists?)

We’re sure as we left these guys were wondering…….holy moly, how could those two skinny rakes eat so much food, where did they put it!!
So it was back to the highway into Valladolid.

As we cycled in we heard our favourite Mexican tune……sing along it you know it, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUpQq633llw ………   Zeta Zeta Zeta Gas!!

Another Pemex and OXXO….ahhh creature comforts! HaHa!

Checked out a couple of hostels and hotels, ran into the Sandra and Anna from the Cenote, had another chat (they had done a cycling loop), then we went back to the first one we enquired at……….we usually always do. “Hostel Cinco Calles”

Bottle of tequila and a six pack of beers for $6 BRING IT ON!!!!

We guzzled water, sat in the shade and breeze before deciding whether to camp or take a dorm bed………in the end we decided on camping under the trees, as the rooms are hot anyway. Hopefully the breeze will continue through the night.

Grabbed some food supplies, then we kicked back catching up on some ‘social media’ (well! it has been a week) enjoyed a few snacks, shots of tequila and a refreshing dip in the pool.
